The lesson plans are tailored towards the year levels of either six or seven year where students have had no prior experience with touch in their schooling. Students are introduced to passing the ball stationary before being introduced to the pass while on the move. The game of touch is gradually introduced with at first the main emphasis being placed on the throw always being backwards and the importance of gaining ground up the field while ‘taking the touch’ in rugby. Gradually the more intricate rules of the game such as the dump roll, the penalty of a touch pass and the skill of passing the ball on the move is further developed ready for a game. Wrap, cut and switch are game plays introduced in week two and before extensively playing modified games of touch in week 3. As students develop a further understanding of the rules relating to touch rugby, they are given an opportunity to consolidate this understanding through umpiring their modified games in week three and four.
